Term 3 week 1

In the first week of term 3 we have been informed that we will be making a coat hanger over the next few weeks. the coat hanger we consist of two pieces of timber connected via a bridle joint and will have a dowel 8 mm in diameter. we have begun making the coat hanger in sketch up.

Term 2 Week 4

This week i have created to slots in my kitchen rack side pieces. these slots are 12 mm wide and 10 mm deep. for this i have used a marking gauge, chisel and a mallet. these will eventually hold two other pieces of timber via a housing joint and a drawer will fit nicely between them.

Term 2 Week 3

This week i have begun making my paper towel holder. i have started to make the two side pieces of the rack which will hold the lathe turned piece of wood for the paper roll itself. to create this i have used a copping saw and an oscillating sander. in the future, this piece of wood will have two housing joints to hold the draw and a 25 mm hole. the measurements are as shown below.

Term 2 Week 2

we have begun to gather ideas for our paper towel holder. Mr Davoren has supplied us with the description and criteria for the project and some students including myself have begun to work on it. i have completed my selection and rejection ideas and therefore have chosen the model i am to create next week.

Term 2 Week 1

this week we have been informed that we are going to create a paper towel holder that is to be used in the kitchen. we must have one housing joint and one object that has been turned on the wood lathe. it also must  have a drawer and can be wall mounted.

This is the End Result


week 5

week 5, we cut 9  42 mm, 42 mm, 42 mm blocks which were then had X's and O's burnt into them using a drill press which had been heated to extreme temperatures by a branding iron.
