Term 2 Week 4

This week i have created to slots in my kitchen rack side pieces. these slots are 12 mm wide and 10 mm deep. for this i have used a marking gauge, chisel and a mallet. these will eventually hold two other pieces of timber via a housing joint and a drawer will fit nicely between them.

Term 2 Week 3

This week i have begun making my paper towel holder. i have started to make the two side pieces of the rack which will hold the lathe turned piece of wood for the paper roll itself. to create this i have used a copping saw and an oscillating sander. in the future, this piece of wood will have two housing joints to hold the draw and a 25 mm hole. the measurements are as shown below.

week 4

In week 4, the inside frame, the outside frame and a one 183 mm, 183 mm, 4 mm base were glued and nailed together, which was then oiled to create our tic tac toe box

equipment used: glue, nail, clamp

week 3

In week 3 we used another 4 pieces of wood to create the inside frame for our tic tac toe box. 4 pieces of 177 mm, 12 mm, 30 mm were used which then had  2, 15 mm trenches cut from the thickness of wood. this would then create the inside of our 9 block tic tac toe box when all joined together

equipment used: mallet, chisel, vice, marking gauge, tri square

week 2

this week we begun making our tic tac toe box. firstly we used 4 pieces of 183 mm, 12 mm to create an outside frame. on both ends of one piece of wood, we made a tongue and groove joint that would connect the 4 pieces together. we then dug two trenches in each piece of wood 6 mm inwards which would be where our inside frames would fit.

equipment used: hammer, chisel, marking gauge, mallet, tri square
